Senior PHP Developer (New York, NY)

We are a small, well funded, rapidly growing company looking to hire good people who are good developers.

We're looking for a good senior level php/mysql developer and project manager to help us build a high quality, extensible, and scalable codebase.

Qualified candidates will have at least 3-4 years of industry experience managing web and interactive media development projects. Knowledge of PHP, PERL HTML, Javascript, MySQL, etc. are desired as is any general experience with a wide range of web development technologies and frameworks. Previous industry experience in Digital Media, Web Development/Design, or Interactive Media is ideal. Candidates must have a Bachelors Degree.

The Senior Developer/Project Manager will be responsible for requirements gathering and analysis, managing the entire project life cycle, design, documentation, scheduling, and resource allocation. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

DUTIES:

* Participates in a team of (initially) four to six programmers

* Programs in PHP/MYSQL and some PERL to maintain existing systems such as CMS, Ad Server, Statistics reporting/logging systems, and client reporting tools.

* Responds to new feature requests maintaining key systems in accordance with long-range software development roadmaps under strict revision control

* Assists with maintenance of several large networks of GNU/Linux-based application, database, and development servers based on open-source software

* Updates job knowledge by keeping abreast of industry developments, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks

* Documents software and systems

REQUIRED SKILLS:

* PHP

* Expertise in configuration and maintenance of MySQL

* Perl

* Expertise in configuration and maintenance of Apache web server

* Significant Experience managing teams of developers.

* Experience managing offsite development teams.

* HTML/CSS (hand-coding in dynamic web programming applications only!)

* XML

* Experience with other scripting and programming languages (Bash, Python, C, etc.) a plus!

* Proficiency in *NIX command line and with common *NIX tools

* Usage of Subversion/CVS in a complex development environment

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Superior time management skills

* Software development cycle fundamentals

* Object-oriented design (OOD) experience

* Software debugging
